Post 202 Newsletter    January & February

HELLO and welcome to a new year.  This year promises to be an exciting one at the post, with several fun projects already in the works.  Isn’t it time you came out an enjoyed your post!

100% Membership:  On the 16th of December our membership chairman Don Dapp advised us that we had reached 100%. A Big Thank You to everyone for paying your 2012 dues early!

Site Development Committee: The site development committee is moving forward on some of the plans for the property, so you should see some changes this year.  If you have ideas, please get it to one of the committee members.

From the Auxiliary:   No Report. 

 

 From the SAL:  The SAL Donut Sale again was a success with 150 dozen donuts being made and sold. What few donuts that were not sold were donated to the Halloween party. Thanks to all that assisted and had a great time. Dave Yates has agreed to be the SAL liaison to the women auxiliary and Jim Burns has agreed to be the liaison to the ALR. Thanks to both for their support.

            Attendance at the SAL meeting are at an all time low, meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 6:30 pm, come and support your SAL chapter. Everyone is welcome, cash drawing if we have 10 or more members. Attend 6 or more meeting a year and get your membership FREE.

 

   SAL dues are due, 59 members have paid, and that only leaves 69 of you yet to get your dues paid. DO NOT GET LEFT BEHIND!!! We need updated addresses so you can be sure to get your membership cards, if mailing in your dues please include your address or stop in the post and have them updated so you will be sure to receive all mailings. Dues are due by end of December, be sure to keep your membership dues current.

 

            A Big THANK YOU to the Legion post for the donation this year, it sure helps out with our area donations. The SAL will be having a Penny Raffle starting in January with great prizes, stop in and try your luck.

 

 From the ALR:  There have been some changes since our election, please help us congratulate Marion Pickard our new Director, Assistant Director Chuck Lansford, Secretary Erika Kaufman, Road Captain Kevin Welker, Assistant Road Captain Mark Coburn, Treasurer Tammy Pence, Membership Matt Greenwalt, Sergeant at Arms Charlie Miller, Member at Large Brent Warfield, Historian Patsy Dalrymple, and Chaplain Richard Pickard!  The ALR will be hosting their annual ride on June 2nd, 2012 make plans to attend!  The ALR is continuing to grow with 68 members keep them coming.  Come and be a part of the fun this year, as the ALR hopes to host different events.  Keep up the good work on the sale of the gun tickets.

From the VA:  There are some hospital beds available, if you need one.  Contact the Veterans office to arrange for their delivery.   The DeKalb County Veterans Office maintains a jobs book that usually contains between 150-200 available jobs in the area, and is updated every Friday!

Reminder: We now have the option to deliver your newsletter to your email address.  This saves the Post money in printing and postage, and gets you your newsletter quicker.  It also allows us to send you email updates on late breaking happenings at the post.  Email Brian at Adjutant@post202.com and he will add you to the list.  

Bingo-Bingo-Bingo: The Bingo staff found a piece of jewelry in the ladies bathroom back in August.  If you lost something see them!

When was the last time you had the opportunity to yell BINGO? Have you forgotten the excitement?  Now is the time to come out at Play at the Post!  Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday!!!

Post 202 Treasure Chest:  Just a reminder, the Post 202 Treasure Chest is deployed somewhere in the 4th District at one of the posts.  Find it, answer 3 of the questions inside correctly, and bring it back to the post for a reward.  Remember to have your current membership card with you, as they won’t give it to you without one!

New Years Eve:  The post has decided not to have a new years eve party this year.  The canteen will be open until 8pm for those of you who would like to stop by.  The Commander also said there will be specials that day!

Childrens Christmas Party:  A special thanks to everyone who showed up to support this project!

Raffles:  Please keep in mind, that there is usually at least one raffle going on at the post, either sponsored by the Legion, Aux, SAL, or Riders.  Please show your support by purchasing a ticket! Right now we have 3 raffles going on.  The Legion is offering tickets on the beautiful electric fireplace, the Auxiliary is raffling off an IPAD, and the Legion Riders are raffling off the band of brothers gun!

The Kitchen is Open!:  Leslie is still working hard, providing you with great menu items!  There are specials almost every night too!  And please tell your friends that the post is always open to the general public for dinner!  We need to get everyone in the community coming out to enjoy a meal with us!

It’s your Post!:  How often do you find yourself out to dinner, or having a drink at somewhere besides your post.  This is your post, and we highly encourage you to use it.  We go to great lengths to provide you with great food, a fantastic bar, and awesome camaraderie!  So please consider frequenting the Post instead of other places!  We support you, now you can support us!

Honor Guard: The Honor Guard provided final honors to Mr. Dody, and Mack Daff.  Rest in peace our brothers!
